ACT Awareness eLearning is a national counter terrorism awareness initiative produced by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) on behalf of Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) to protect the UK cities and communities from the threat of terrorism.

The Leading Libraries series covers four leadership capabilities for collaborative and distributed leadership practice. These were developed from the core ideas covered in 'The 21st Century Public Servant' [Needham, C., & Mangan, C. (2014). The 21st century public servant. Birmingham: University of Birmingham].

This module introduces the Leading Libraries programme and the series of online learning modules, outlining the programme intentions, the four capabilities and their origins along with guidance on how to use the materials. 

The four capabilities are:

• Leading for Resilience
• Leading for Dialogue
• Leading for Inclusion
• Leading for Innovation.

Culture and Creativity in Libraries

This module will explain why culture and creativity is important in libraries and how to plan a cultural or creative event for your library. You will learn how to select the right kind of arts and artists for your audience, along with how to manage an event on the day, and how to collect and use feedback.

This module will enable you to refresh and update your knowledge to support your users to develop their digital skills. It has been designed around the Government's Essential Digital Skills framework and the recently identified learning needs of library staff.  It gives resources and guidance on how to search effectively and work confidently with users whose digital skills are low.

It is advisable to complete this module before completing the Media and Information Literacy module.

Regardless of your role, this module will enhance your ability to bring all your work conversations into a more participative, collaborative style, whether you are running a large workshop or simply catching up with a peer about something they need help on.  

The Leading for dialogue set contains the following modules:

• Leading through dialogue
• The art of listening
• Skilful conversing
• Holding a space for dialogue.

Inclusive leaders recognise the nature and impact of their own identity, power and privilege, and how they can work with it to create a level playing field for all people in society. Inclusive leaders take time and care to better understand the lived experiences of people they lead, and are aware of how power and privilege is distributed in teams and systems in order to address imbalances.

The Leading for inclusion set contains the following modules:

• Inclusion & inclusive leadership
  
• Challenges to inclusive practice
• Power and privilege
• Developing allyship.

Innovation is much more than 'leading change' – modern public sector innovation approaches are also about creating a new sense of collaboration between service providers and the citizens they serve.

The Leading for innovation set contains the following modules:

• The innovation cycle
• Inquiry and reflection
• Ideation and creativity
• Prototyping and experimentation.

As a leader, the good news is that you can improve your own ability to bounce back from adverse events, upsets and reversals of fortune and, at the same time, improve the resilience of your own teams and organisations.

The Leading for resilience set contains the following modules:

• An introduction to resilience factors
• Emotional resilience – maintaining balance
• Mental resilience – inner dialogue and limiting beliefs
• Relationship resilience – conversations for change
• Social resilience – conditions for healthy groups.

This module will introduce you to the five principles of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Online Media Literacy Strategy. It will help you understand how to use the internet safely and make informed decisions. This learning will equip you with skills and knowledge to share with your library users. It has been funded by DCMS.

It is advisable to complete this module after you have completed the Key Digital Skills module.

In this module you will find out how to run the Reading Well Books on Prescription scheme in your library.

In this training module, you'll gain understanding about what children's library services offer and their value for the communities they serve. You'll learn more about the importance of promoting a love of reading among children and young people, and understand your vital role in the provision of children's library services.

Your line manager will support you with this process as you explore ideas, test out these ideas, and understand the importance of your role.

This online course aims to build the skills and confidence of library staff to talk to visitors about reading and books. 

You will find lots of ideas to help you develop good conversational skills and enrich the experience your library offers to its customers. 

These two modules explore the uncomfortable truths surrounding racial inequality in the workplace and are aimed at leaders and managers working.
